Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University opened a new Regional Center of Excellence in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia on September 9, 2019. Thunderbird’s Jakarta Center of Excellence is located within The Energy Building, one of Jakarta’s most prestigious commercial sites, strategically located in the city’s primary business district. Dr. Sanjeev Khagram, Thunderbird’s Dean and Director General, was joined by members of the school’s global alumni network to celebrate the opening of the new Jakarta office on Monday, September 9, 2019.

Thunderbird’s new Jakarta Center of Excellence embodies the school’s commitment to increasing its presence in Southeast Asia as Thunderbird pursues its mission of educating global leaders who advance sustainable and inclusive prosperity worldwide. This is the latest addition to Thunderbird’s expanding global network of Regional Centers of Excellence, a key milestone in the plan to have satellite offices operating in 20 countries by the end of the year 2025. Located in top cities for international business and trade, Thunderbird’s Centers of Excellence offer degree programs, professional development opportunities and corporate solutions to individuals and organizations around the world. Thunderbird’s worldwide network of regional hub offices will support recruiting, alumni engagement, global student practicums, executive education, and professional and educational consulting assignments.

This new regional hub was made possible and spearheaded by prominent Thunderbird alumni, Jimmy Masrin, Vice President Director, Lautan Luas Tbk PT and Hilmi Panigoro, President Director, Medco Energi Internasional. Thunderbird’s global alumni community plays an instrumental role in furthering the school’s commitment to educating new global leaders who can solve the problems facing humanity.
